Case Study
From an empty lot to a 13,000 square foot production brewery and restaurant in Rockwall, Texas. Every brand decision, every interior detail, every operational system — designed and built in-house.
where it all started
The Challenge
The brief was deceptively simple: build a production craft brewery and full-service restaurant that felt nothing like the industrial taproom down the road. Siren Rock needed to compete with polished restaurant experiences while still honoring the craft — the grain, the process, the community that forms around a shared pint.
The space was a blank slab in downtown Rockwall. No existing structure, no inherited identity, no shortcuts. Everything had to be designed from scratch — the brand, the building, the beer, the food, and every system that would keep it running seven days a week.
01 · Brand + Concept
Most breweries name beers after hops or geography. We built Siren Rock's entire identity around fictional character archetypes — The Prima Diva, The Fiery Rebel, The Humble Hero, The Magnetic Muse. Each beer is a personality with its own backstory, illustration, and voice.
This character-driven system gave the brand an infinite creative runway. New beer releases became character introductions. Seasonal rotations told new stories. The taproom walls became a gallery of illustrated personalities that guests could connect with — and argue about.
02 · Space + Design
The taproom was designed to feel like a living room that happens to have a 15-barrel brewhouse behind glass. Warm wood tones, industrial steel, and curated lighting create a space that works for a Tuesday lunch and a Saturday night out.
A dedicated private event room, an outdoor patio with string lights, and a full production brewery visible from the bar — every square foot was planned to serve both the guest experience and the operational workflow.
03 · Operations + Menu
We developed The Surf Report — a chef-driven West Coast inspired kitchen concept operating inside the brewery. The name, the menu design, the positioning — all built to give the food program its own identity while living under the Siren Rock roof.
Mahi-mahi tacos, poke cups, blackened chicken pasta, and a brunch program that brought in a completely different crowd on weekends. The Surf Report proved that a brewery kitchen could be a destination, not an afterthought.
On the distribution side, over 20 unique character labels were designed and produced for core, seasonal, and limited releases — each with custom illustration, a personality-driven description, and a color system tied to beer style so guests could spot their favorite from across the cooler.
04 · Launch + Community
Siren Rock became the living room of downtown Rockwall. Live music every weekend, trivia nights, holiday parties, a mug club with its own Friendsgiving, brewery anniversary celebrations, and an events calendar that ran year-round.
The programming strategy was designed alongside the brand — not bolted on later. Every event reinforced the personality of the space and gave the community a reason to come back, again and again.
Siren Rock operated for eight years as a production brewery, full-service restaurant, and community venue in Rockwall, Texas. It's the project that proved design and operations aren't separate disciplines — they're the same conversation.
Every system we use at Copper+Oak — from brand strategy frameworks to interior planning workflows to menu engineering — was built and tested at Siren Rock. It's not a case study we pitch. It's the foundation we built the studio on.
